When it’s a Mammoth Mountain Powder Day, we will look for anything that gets us on the mountain faster.
When you get over 30 feet of snow every season, one of the longest winter seasons in North America, and are only a day’s drive from several large cities, it’s easy to see why even a mountain as large as Mammoth gets crowded. When it’s the day after a storm and there is perfect powder waiting on the slopes, finding parking alone can affect how much time you get to actually enjoy the fresh snow. Everyone deserves to experience Mammoth Mountain powder though, so we’ve put together a list of Mammoth Lakes Lodging with the easiest access to Mammoth Mountain. Read our guide below and get ready to book a room for the next storm!
Juniper Springs Resort
You can’t get much closer to Mammoth Mountain than Juniper Springs Resort. In fact, Juniper Springs is located at the base of Mammoth Mountain just next to Eagle Lodge.
As long as Eagle Lodge is open you’ll be able to ski or snowboard out of the resort and straight to Eagle Express, a ski lift that takes riders to the middle of the mountain where they can access the rest of Mammoth Mountain from. On top of that, Juniper Springs offers an in-room rental service to make your stay as convenient and comfortable as possible. Juniper Springs Resort is also conveniently located just next to Sierra Star Golf course making it a great choice year-round!

Like Juniper Springs Resort, Mammoth Mountain Inn is located at the base of the mountain and offers ski in and out convenience. While Juniper Springs offers access to one lift, just outside the doors of Mammoth Mountain Inn are four lifts including the Panorama Gondola that will take guests straight to the top of the summit. If you want to see as much of Mammoth Mountain as possible, then Mammoth Mountain Inn’s location and access to lifts makes it the number one choice for you!

Austria Hof Lodge
If you won’t be staying at the base of the mountain, then the Austria Hof Lodge is the next best thing.
The Austria Hof Lodge is only a five minute walk from Canyon Lodge, which offers four different ski lifts that take skiers and snowboarders all over the mountain. Along with being located just next to Mammoth Mountain’s base, The Austria Hof Lodge also makes getting to the mountain easy by offering complimentary ski and snowboard storage and a complimentary breakfast to get you out the door and to the mountain as soon as possible.
Alpenhof Lodge
The Alpenhof Lodge is just a five-minute walk from Mammoth Lakes’ Village which means plenty of dining and shopping options are easily accessible. For skiers and snowboarders though, the Village Gondola that picks riders up in the heart of the Village and drops them at Canyon Lodge, and the four ski lifts there, is what sells the location of the Alpenhof Lodge.
The Alpenhof lodge offers queen bedrooms, two-bedroom cabins, and everything in between. Plus, it will be hard to not appreciate the Alpenhof’s detailed mountain theme that makes it one of the coziest places to stay in Mammoth Lakes. The Alpenhof Lodge’s close proximity to the Village also means it is close to several of Mammoth Lakes free winter bus lines, making getting around beyond Mammoth Mountain easy and affordable.
