If a trip to Mammoth is what you’re planning for the second half of March, you’ll have many possibilities to consider as you fine-tune your to-do list. This is a time of the year when days are longer but temperatures are still suitable for snowmaking. It’s also when some on-site events are taking place that may appeal to you. The friendly team from Mammoth Bound, where you can find everything from high-quality gaiters to trendy Mammoth Mountain clothing, offer this list of things to do during a visit to Mammoth in late March.
Enjoy Classic “Winter” Activities in Early Spring
Let’s start with the most obvious thing to do when visiting Mammoth Mountain during the second half of March: enjoying traditional activities involving snow-covered terrain. As we mentioned above, there will still be plenty of snow here as winter shifts to spring, even if it’s supplemented by manufactured powder. Go ahead and pack your skiing and snowboarding gear, or you can rent what you need when you get here. Late March is also when you can still enjoy any of the following wintertime activities when visiting Mammoth:
• High-speed snow tubing at Woolly’s Tube Park
• Guided snowmobile excursions over snow-covered meadows
• Cross-country skiing in the scenic Lakes Basin
Take a Gondola Ride if You’re All About the Sights
You don’t have to extend the winter fun with skiing and the other activities mentioned above during a late March visit to Mammoth. You’re also welcome to enjoy a casual, scenic gondola ride to the mountain’s summit. There’s a café up here, too, so you can sip some coffee or have a full meal before hopping back into the gondola.
Go to a Mammoth-Style Weekend Party
Mammoth gives you the option to immerse yourself in two happening party scenes during the second half of March. On Saturdays, the family-friendly Woolly’s Dance Party at the Village Plaza includes food, fun, and meet-and-greet opportunities with Mammoth’s mascots. On Fridays, the Weekend Après Party on the deck at Canyon Lodge is geared more for grownups, since it includes cocktails and adult beverages.
Enter to Win an Ikon Pass & Other Prizes
From March 23rd to 27th, Mammoth is giving visitors a chance to check out the all-new Nissan Ariya and win some awesome swag. The big prize is a 2022–23 Ikon Pass, which comes with an assortment of appealing perks. Go to the Village to enter. Other prizes are being given away daily as well.
Have Some Indoor Fun
Mammoth isn’t just for outdoor fun during the second half of March. You may be surprised at how many indoor things you can do in the area during the second part of the month. Some of the many possibilities include:
• Shopping and dining at various on-site locations
• Trampolining at nearby Snowcreek Athletic Club
• Bowling at nearby Mammoth Rock ‘n’ Bowl
Take Skiing/Snowboarding Lessons for Next Season
Mammoth also has an on-site ski and snowboard school. If you’re new to either one of these activities and want to get ready to try them next season, you can always sign up for a few lessons during your late-March visit here.
