Getting Prepared for Mammoth’s Upcoming Ski Season

Before you know it, Mammoth Mountain will once again be covered in fresh powder and open for another ski season, which usually begins in November. If you already know you’ll be making your way to this area later this year, now’s a good time to start getting ready. Here are some things you can do to be as prepared as possible for the upcoming ski season in Mammoth.

Consider Buying an Ikon Pass

The Ikon Pass will give you access to roughly 50,000 skiable acres at various locations, including Mammoth Mountain. It’s worth considering if you know you’ll be a frequent visitor to the Mammoth area during the winter season. A standard pass offers an assortment of perks that include:

• Up to $50 in discounts
• Friends and family discounts
• Access to trail maps, weather updates, and other useful info with the Ikon Pass app
• No blackout dates

Purchase Your Lift Tickets in Advance

Make your trip to Mammoth during the upcoming ski season more convenient by purchasing lift tickets in advance. Doing so allows you to get on the lift faster once you arrive, which means less time waiting and more time skiing. One option with lift tickets for Mammoth is the Quad Pack+, which will give you four lift tickets you can use anytime during the ski season. You’ll also save 25 percent on ticket reloads for the duration of the season.

Check Your Equipment & Gear

If you have your own ski equipment and gear, take some time now before ski season begins in Mammoth to check everything out. This gives you a chance to have repairs made or purchase anything new if you have to replace skis, goggles, boots, or other accessories you usually bring with you. But also know you can always purchase or rent skis and related accessories when you get to Mammoth. There are many shops in Mammoth Lakes and directly within the resort where you can find Mammoth ski rental or buy anything you may need.

Book in Advance if You’ll Be Staying Overnight

You can conveniently stay at one of the five lodges located at Mammoth Mountain if you have plans for an overnight or weekend ski trip during the upcoming season. Visit the Mammoth website to pick your dates as far in advance as possible to boost your odds of having more options with pricing and specific dates.

Note: Many of these lodges also have on-site shops where you can get the latest ski gear.

Know How You’ll Be Getting Here

If you’ll be driving to Mammoth, all you’ll have to do is pack up what you’ll be bringing with you and make your way here. However, if you’ll be flying or taking other modes of transportation, it’s a good idea to do some planning ahead of time to make sure you can get here on the date(s) you have in mind, especially if you’ll also need to make lodge reservations.
