Liftopia
If you’ve already started your search for cheap lift tickets, then you’ve probably run across Liftopia amongst dozens of other sites that specialize in discounted lift tickets. While many places offer discounted lift tickets, you’ll have a hard time finding one that offers more options for more mountains than Liftopia.
The fact that Liftopia offers discounted lift tickets to mountains all over the world already sets it above most other discounted lift ticket websites, but their streamlined site is the icing on the cake. Liftopia’s search calendar allows you to see what the best deals available at the mountain of your choice are based on availability and blackout dates. Liftopia also allows users to get better discounts based on the number of days they stay, just like Mammoth Mountain’s own site and you can even find discounted lift ticket and ski or snowboard rental packages. If you purchase lift tickets with Liftopia then you typically have to redeem your reservation at the walk-up window with a valid driver’s license, so make sure to plan for time spent waiting in line. You may also need to find another way to redeem your lift ticket reservation with the mountain if their walk-up window is closed.
REI
If skiing and snowboarding are not your first outdoor sport, then you’re likely already familiar with REI, their excellent gear, and accessible retail locations. Now, you will also know them as a great option for discounted lift tickets.
REI doesn’t offer discounted lift tickets to as many mountains or as many ticket and bundle options as Liftopia, but their site is almost always worth visiting thanks to their user-friendly search options and steep discounts. If you’re not already a REI member, then you will need to join the Co-Op before you’re able to make a purchase on their website or in their store. Still, the one-time $20 membership fee gives you lifetime membership and access to deals on lift tickets and other gear. Lastly, lift tickets will only show up on REI’s site when they’re available, so if you search for them out of season then there may be none at that time.
Costco
You already go to Costco for great deals on just about everything. Why not add lift tickets to the list?
Costco stores offer lift ticket bundles to nearby ski mountains that come out much cheaper than walk-up window rates. Since people travel from all over California to ski and snowboard at Mammoth Mountain, you’ll find discounted Mammoth lift tickets at Costco stores as far away as Los Angeles. Costco often sells lift tickets in bundles so it’s unlikely that you’ll find a deal for a single lift ticket there, but if you’re buying for a group then you could save hundreds of dollars.
You will need a Costco membership to make a purchase and their selection of deals relies on availability, so call ahead to your local store or those close to Mammoth Mountain before you visit.
