Mammoth Mountain Opens for Summer Activities May 27th
There are enough mountains throughout the Eastern Sierra area to do just about any type of outdoor sport you could imagine, but there is only one mountain that offers skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, ziplining, and a Via Ferrata all at once.
The end of the ski season changes every year at Mammoth Mountain due to snow conditions and weather, but this year the mountain is scheduled to close for skiing and snowboarding on Memorial Day weekend and open for mountain biking on May 27th.
Mountain biking is only scratching the surface of what’s possible at Mammoth Mountain though. There’s also the Mammoth Mountain Adventure Center which includes a climbing wall, ropes course, and zipline along with a Via Ferrata on Mammoth Mountain’s slopes.
Via Ferrata is a climbing route bolted into the rock which is perfect for families of all ages and sizes no matter how familiar they are with climbing.
You can also enjoy the summer sunshine by playing the first round of the year at Sierra Star Golf Course which also opens on Memorial Day weekend this year. Just make sure you don’t get too lost in the mountain views from the greens and fairways and forget to finish your round!
Of course, you can also ski and snowboard at Mammoth Mountain throughout most of May thanks to Mammoth Mountain’s high elevation and deep snowpack. We’ve even had a few storms this May which will make the spring skiing even better as Mammoth Mountain ends the ski season on Memorial Day weekend!

Local beer, delicious food, and challenging trivia. What’s not to love?
Mammoth Brewing Company’s trivia night takes place every Tuesday night from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm and is a great chance to enjoy the flavors of the area while interacting with the local community!
Mammoth Mountain Yacht Club
Don’t forget about the wackiest event of the year where skiers and snowboarders celebrate the end of another incredible ski season at Mammoth Mountain by taking to the high seas.
